We took 3 steps to finishing this project: 1.Brainstorming in our Notebook (took ideas and pictures in our notebook) 2.Building the physical project (Mechanical) 3. Programming it to do the needed functions (Software)
We had to make a few changes to our design during the process of building it because we found out that if we kept our original design then it would not work. I did all of the software part for this project and most of the mechanical part also. However, my partner on the other hand did not really help me a lot during this project because I think that I could have used my partner to help me a lot more. When I missed one day during this project I came back and found nothing new done with this project which held us back for this project but thanks to Mr. Welker and his help we got this project done and everything was functioning properly. I think that something we could do better next time is to try to work more as a team instead of one person doing all the work and the other person just watching. One thing that was hard for me during this project was the software side but with Mr. Welkers help we accomplished to get it done on time.
After we brainstormed we decided to use the same design that we had for our test boards.
This is an image that shows our project after we used ROBOTC to set up our motors and sensors. This is the final design or mechanical design.
We used yarn provided by Mr. Welker to test our Cable Winding Mechanism design.
Our design was simple but everything was working properly We measured the yarn and found that one foot of yarn takes about 3.5 seconds to roll so we used this time to program it. We also had a bump switch used as an emergency start and stop switch. Next time I hope to have a much harder design and take the challenge.
This was the hard part for me but thanks to Mr. Welker we got it done and functioning properly.
Materials Project
Part 1: I took multiple measurements such as volume and the mass of my object as well as other many experiments with it.
These are the two materials that I used a pen and a pencil. The pencil is on the left and had 5 parts. The pen had 4 parts and is the one the right.
Triple Beam balance= I used this to measure the mass of my objects in grams.
Some other tools that I used were: Dial Caliper Triple beam balance Graduated cylinder Nail My hands pen Pencil Water
Dial Caliper=I used this to measure the diameter, length, and height of my objects.
